How to create a new report from filtered data

After generating any report, you can filter the data, extract useful information and then use it to create a new report. This is fast, efficient and intuitive.

This article explains how to take data from one report into a new report. But why would you do this?

  • to cluster the results of a classifier report (whether selected companies and classifiers, or a global landscape report) to gain further insights into the results. Clustering groups patent families into technology clusters based on similarities in the patents.

  • to filter to particular territories and take those results into a new report to analyse just that segment of the results for example, your focus may only be on US, China and Japan, and you may wish to review other statistics about these families alone.

  • take results of a part of a clustered report and look for similar companies to those patents for example, one technology cluster may be particularly interesting to you. You can take these results and look for organisations with assets that are similar to that cluster alone.

  • Tagging assets in a report, and combine multiple groups of tagged assets into a new report
